This is a dedicated discussion space for Professor Renzi's ENG 353 course during Spring 2012. We will blog as a way to practice analytical reading and writing, as well as to continue our discussions this semester beyond the confines of our class meetings.

bunner sisters-part 3
I took Evelina's death as a sign of new life almost with Ann Eliza. "with death comes new life" is a simple phrase from the past which is seemingly exemplified here. As Ann Eliza cannot continue the shop by herself she must find a new direction to take and the fact that she goes out to look for another shop to work in shows her moving forward. This courage and strength to move on after someone so close to her has passed shows the strength of a new woman. As we discussed in class the new woman is independent and now Ann Eliza is independent on all levels. Even going back to turning down Ramy for marriage, then to her sister dying so now she does not have to look over her, it's as though she did not wilt at the destruction but rather spring to life and move forward.
