Voyage In The Dark

I think so far Anna's story is very interesting for a girl of 19. She has left her home in the West Indies to travel as a chorus girl with a show. She lives with other chorus girls at the beginning but then splits off by herself. This is a drastic contract to Elizabeth Dalloway who in our last book was 18 and still live at home and was to some degree looked after.  I also thought so far that Anna's relationship with Walter Jefferies was odd. He seems to respect her and wants her to be happy, comfortable and safe but he also disappears a couple days a week for work. This personally makes me suspicious. And when he mention her predecessor it cleared things up for me. It seems as though he uses young girls for a sexual relationship, connects them with professionals and builds them a life to their potential with his money. I can only see this ending badly because she seems to be falling in love with him.
