This is a dedicated discussion space for Professor Renzi's ENG 353 course during Spring 2012. We will blog as a way to practice analytical reading and writing, as well as to continue our discussions this semester beyond the confines of our class meetings.

Mrs. Dalloway
Throughout the novel, I do not see Mrs. Dalloway carrying out the motherly role. She fits the role of the "new woman" because instead of taking care of the house and her daughter Elizabeth, she spends her time throwing parties and socializing. It is interesting because her daughter is nothing like her and wants to be more like her father. This could be caused by the lack of relationship that Mrs. Dalloway has with Elizabeth. I am interested to see if the relationship between Elizabeth and her mother changes throughout the novel.
