This is a dedicated discussion space for Professor Renzi's ENG 353 course during Spring 2012. We will blog as a way to practice analytical reading and writing, as well as to continue our discussions this semester beyond the confines of our class meetings.

The Street- Leah Short
I thought the part in chapter 2 when women working with children was mentioned was interesting and engages an important feminist discourse of women with children in the workforce. It makes me think of the "double day" that we've discussed in class and how women, especially those of color, are faced with work and children, thus a double day. This also makes me think of how important and different an experience of a Black woman in this time was from that of a White woman, especially in respect to what work was like and how Black women really didn't have a choice and could not rely on a well-off privileged White man to pay for everything like other texts we've read.
