The Street

I'm still having trouble with what we talked about in class with Min vs Lutie - I don't think it is a VS issue. The class wanted to take sides, but I think that's not really valid. There's 2 different situations going on here. Lutie has a son to provide for - she's looking out for her own safety and her own so that she is there for him. Maybe she's not the best mother in terms of providing physical comfort and time to her son, but without her, he would be living on the street or with his grandpa's lazy, trashy sounding wife. Min, on the other hand, is more concerned with her own financial need. She wants to be provided for because she feels like she won't be able to survive on her own. So she is making a good choice for her.
