The Yellow Wall Paper

During the time which the story The Yellow Wallpaper was written it was unusual which you would see a women writing about things which they were going through. This was seen as uncommon because most women did not speak out against or tell what was going on in their home However, when beginning to read the story The Yellow Wallpaper, from the start I was able to see some things and ways of stereotyping women. In the beginning the idea which women are to be stay at home women, while there husband are the ones that work and have to provide for the home. Being a woman during this time frame cause for Gilman to bottle up most of her feeling and since she was unable to express how she was really feeling she wrote most of them down. The idea that women are less educated than men is shown because her husband would not want her to write and would laugh is she was to say certain things especially if it’s about her case. The idea that women during this time are always happy was seen in the short story. Gilman always tried to show her marriage as being something which she was happy about and there were not problems but however, her husband (John) did not treat her the best. And yet today still most of these issues still occur for women but some things are different more women are educated, more women run there own households and more women are now able to speak out against things in which women are mistreated about although much has changed its some what still the same because women still go through many of the things which occurred in the 19th century.
