The Yellow Wallpaper

After reading the story of 'The Yellow Wallpaper', I have concluded that this story serves as a metaphor. This being that it shows both the 'old woman' and the 'new woman'. The old woman is the lady stuck behind the wallpaper that is described. When she breaks free, she is rid of her self-consciousness about her flaws. She no longer is controlled by her husband and becoming the new woman, the narrator is now confident. This tells the short story of how woman transformed into the new woman and began their march for their equal rights as the new woman.
